Qatar Schools Set to Reopen on August 30 with Full Preparations

Doha, Qatar Aug 22, 2026 ALN: Qatar’s schools are set to reopen their doors to students on August 30, marking the beginning of the 2026-2027 academic year. This reopening is part of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's (MoEHE) extensive preparations that have been undertaken to ensure a seamless transition back to the classroom environment. The preparations encompass a variety of crucial elements, including the establishment of curricula, organization of school transportation, distribution of textbooks, and verification of the safety and readiness of school buildings.

Maryam Abdullah al-Mohannadi, who serves as the director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at MoEHE, emphasized the completion of all essential preparations aimed at facilitating a smooth start to the academic year. In her remarks, al-Mohannadi stated, "The school year will start on Sunday, and we will witness the return of our students to school," highlighting the excitement surrounding the return of students to their educational institutions.

The MoEHE has organized a 'Back-To-School' event at Place Vendome, which took place recently and was aimed at engaging students and their families ahead of the new school year. This event was conducted in collaboration with Mowasalat (Karwa), Qatar's primary public transportation provider, and featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by both al-Mohannadi and Mohammed Abukhadija, the executive director of Commercial Affairs at Mowasalat. Such events not only serve to celebrate the upcoming school year but also to foster a sense of community among parents, students, and educational authorities.

In addition to the preparations for the physical aspects of schooling, the ministry is also focusing on the psychological readiness of students and families.
