Tragic Bus Collision in Palnadu Claims Seven Lives

Shillong, India Aug 27, 2026 ALN: A tragic accident in Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh claimed the lives of seven people, including six women, and left eight others injured when a private travels bus collided with an auto-rickshaw early Thursday morning, according to police reports.

The incident occurred near Adda Road in Chilakaluripet as the private bus was traveling from Vijayawada to Tirupati and struck the three-wheeler carrying fifteen passengers. The bus, which is typically used for long-distance travel and often operates on busy routes, was reportedly moving at a high speed when it collided with the auto-rickshaw, which is a common mode of transport in the region.

Out of the fifteen individuals in the auto-rickshaw, seven were killed. The injured, which included four children, were promptly transported to Government General Hospital in Guntur and Chilakaluripet Government Hospital for treatment. The victims were identified as residents of Veluru village in Chilakaluripet mandal, returning from a birthday celebration in Kondamanjulur, Prakasam district. The deceased have been identified as Bontu Babu (62), Bontu Manemma (55), Sampurnamma (70), Gangamma (50), Lakshmamma (75), Choutupalli Swarthamma (45), and Mariamma (45). Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound shock over the horrific accident.
