Shillong, August 28: Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh has defended the Shillong Peak Ropeway Project amid concerns over tree felling, saying the project will offer visitors an experience comparable to travelling by cable car through the Swiss Alps. With its promise of panoramic views and a unique travel experience, the project is being positioned as a significant addition to Shillong's tourism infrastructure, which is already known for its natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Lyngdoh stated that the ropeway has been designed in accordance with Swiss standards, a move aimed at ensuring safety and efficiency. He expressed confidence that, once completed, it would become one of the most distinctive tourist attractions in Shillong, potentially drawing visitors not just from across India but also from international destinations.
