Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlights Madhya Pradesh's rapid growth in technology sectors, including AI, data centres, and semiconductor manufacturing, during the MP Tech Growth Conclave.

Madhya Pradesh is rapidly establishing itself as a significant destination for technology investments, with advancements in sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), data centres, and semiconductor manufacturing, according to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. This transformation is part of a broader strategy to diversify the state's economy, which has historically relied on agriculture, mining, and forestry.

Speaking at the MP Tech Growth Conclave 3.0: GCC, Data Centre and Semiconductor held in Bhopal, Yadav emphasized that the state has successfully honored commitments made during the previous two editions of the conclave, which attracted investment proposals totaling ₹46,000 crore. The conclave serves as a platform for discussing and promoting technological advancements and investment opportunities within the state, marking an important step towards making Madhya Pradesh a key player in the technology sector.

“In the last two years, we have fulfilled our commitments. The first two editions of the conclave received investment proposals worth ₹46,000 crore. We have inaugurated twenty-two industrial units and launched four new projects. Since the Global Investors Summit 2025, over ₹12,000 crore has already been invested in the technology sector,” he stated. This commitment highlights the government's proactive approach to fostering an environment conducive to technological innovation and investment.

The Chief Minister noted that while Madhya Pradesh has traditionally been recognized for its agriculture, mining, and forestry, it is now diversifying into emerging sectors such as defence manufacturing, drones, renewable energy, and advanced technologies. This diversification is critical as it prepares the state for the future economic landscape, where technology-driven industries are likely to dominate. The shift towards technology is not just about economic growth; it also aims to create job opportunities for the youth and harness the potential of local talent.

“Madhya Pradesh is progressing swiftly in future-oriented sectors. The state government is dedicated to promoting AI, data centres, semiconductors, and other technology-based industries,” Yadav added. The emphasis on AI and data centres reflects a global trend where data-driven decision-making and automation are becoming increasingly important across various industries. By positioning itself as a hub for these technologies, Madhya Pradesh is aligning with international trends and preparing for the demands of the future economy.

During the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated 20 industrial units and oversaw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Google Play India Lead and the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC). This partnership with a global tech giant like Google signifies the state's growing importance in the digital landscape and its appeal to major technology firms looking to expand their operations in India.

He also unveiled plans to develop a three lakh square feet IT Park in Indore’s IT Corridor and a four lakh square feet IT Park in Bhopal. The development of these IT parks is a strategic move aimed at creating a conducive environment for tech startups and established companies alike. Such infrastructure is essential for attracting talent, fostering innovation, and facilitating collaboration among various stakeholders in the technology ecosystem.

Additionally, the state will establish a Semiconductor Centre of Excellence aimed at fostering skill development and enhancing the semiconductor ecosystem. This initiative is particularly significant given the global semiconductor shortage that has impacted various industries, including automotive and consumer electronics. By investing in semiconductor manufacturing, Madhya Pradesh is not only addressing local demand but also positioning itself as a player in the global supply chain.

“The government is creating world-class infrastructure to support technology companies and attract more investment to Madhya Pradesh,” Yadav remarked. Infrastructure development is a critical factor in attracting investments, as it ensures that companies have access to the resources and facilities they need to operate efficiently. This includes transportation, communication, and utilities, all of which are essential for the smooth functioning of technology enterprises.

Chief Secretary Anurag Jain reported that investments exceeding ₹12,000 crore in the digital and technology sector have already been implemented in the state. This figure underscores the momentum that Madhya Pradesh is gaining in the technology sector, reflecting a growing confidence among investors about the state's potential for growth and innovation.

He further noted that leading technology companies participating in the conclave are expected to announce investment proposals surpassing ₹40,000 crore. This anticipated influx of investment is a testament to the state's strategic initiatives and the proactive measures taken by the government to create a favorable business environment.

A Spain-based group reaffirmed its intention to establish a data centre in Madhya Pradesh, while another semiconductor company disclosed an investment of ₹6,000 crore in the state. These investments are significant not only for their monetary value but also for the job opportunities they will create and the technological advancements they will bring to the region.

The conclave gathered government officials, industry leaders, and technology firms to explore investment opportunities in Global Capability Centres (GCCs), data centres, and semiconductor manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh. The participation of such a diverse group of stakeholders highlights the collaborative approach being taken to drive technological growth in the state. By bringing together government, industry, and academia, Madhya Pradesh is positioning itself as a hub for innovation and technological excellence.

As Madhya Pradesh continues to attract technology investments, the implications for the local economy and workforce are profound. The state's focus on technology-driven sectors is likely to lead to increased job creation, higher skill levels among the workforce, and a more robust economic base. Furthermore, as these industries grow, they can contribute to the overall development of the region, improving infrastructure and services for the local population.

In conclusion, Madhya Pradesh's emergence as a hub for technology investments marks a significant shift in its economic landscape. With the government's commitment to fostering innovation and creating a conducive environment for technology companies, the state is well on its way to becoming a key player in the technology sector. The ongoing developments and investments in AI, data centres, and semiconductor manufacturing not only promise economic growth but also position Madhya Pradesh as a vital contributor to India's technological future.
