Former Rippling cofounder Prasanna Sankar has launched Vorflux, raising $15 million in seed funding to automate the software development lifecycle using AI.
New Delhi, India Jul 16, 2026 ALN: Former Rippling cofounder Prasanna Sankar has launched an enterprise AI software engineering startup named Vorflux, successfully securing $15 million (approximately ₹144 crore) in seed funding. This funding round saw significant contributions from renowned investors including Y Combinator, Peak XV Partners, Powerset, and Alliance. Additionally, several angel investors participated, such as Parker Conrad, cofounder of Rippling, Immad Akhund, founder and CEO of Mercury, and Balaji Srinivasan, former CTO of Coinbase.
The announcement of Vorflux comes just weeks after Sankar decided to wind down his previous venture, 0xPPL, which was a Web3 startup backed by Peak XV Partners. This transition highlights the fast-paced nature of the tech startup ecosystem, where founders often pivot quickly in response to market conditions and opportunities.
Vorflux is designed as an enterprise AI software engineering platform that aims to automate the entire software development lifecycle. This encompasses stages from planning and coding to testing and code review, utilizing teams of specialized AI agents rather than relying on a single coding assistant. This innovative approach is indicative of the growing trend towards leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance productivity and efficiency in software development.
In discussing the funding and the future direction of Vorflux, Sankar emphasized that the current challenges in software development have shifted. He noted that while coding remains important, the more pressing issues now lie in the realms of reviewing, testing, and deploying software reliably. Vorflux aims to address these challenges by utilizing AI agents that operate entirely in the cloud, which allows for greater scalability and flexibility in the development process.
“Most people still code on localhost and are controlling the steering wheel. The future is coding agents running entirely in the cloud,” Sankar remarked, highlighting his vision for the future of software development.
Headquartered in San Francisco, Vorflux has a significant presence in Bengaluru, where most of its employees are located. This geographical distribution reflects a broader trend in the tech industry, where companies often leverage talent pools in different regions to optimize their operations.
Peak XV Partners, one of the key investors in Vorflux, has expressed strong confidence in Sankar and his vision for the future of software engineering. Aakash Kapoor, a principal at Peak XV, explained that as AI continues to transform the landscape of software development, the bottleneck is increasingly shifting away from merely generating code to the critical tasks of reviewing, validating, and reliably shipping that code.
“We believe the next generation of software engineering will be powered by autonomous multi-agent systems that can orchestrate the entire development lifecycle, not just write code,” Kapoor stated, underscoring the potential impact of Vorflux's approach.
Kapoor further elaborated that Vorflux is developing a model-agnostic platform capable of managing complex, long-horizon engineering tasks with exceptional quality. This infrastructure is essential for fostering AI-native software development, which is becoming increasingly relevant in today’s tech landscape.
Unlike many AI coding assistants that primarily focus on generating code, Vorflux employs specialized AI agents that are deployed across various stages of the software development process. According to Sankar, this platform can comprehend an application’s codebase, devise implementation plans, write and review code, conduct tests, and allocate different AI models to tasks based on their respective strengths. This multi-agent system is designed to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of software development.
Importantly, Vorflux does not develop its own AI models; instead, it utilizes frontier models from various AI companies, selecting the best-performing model for each specific task. This strategic choice allows Vorflux to remain adaptable and leverage the latest advancements in AI technology.
Vorflux represents Sankar’s second entrepreneurial endeavor since departing from Rippling in 2020. His previous startup, 0xPPL, was founded in 2022 and aimed to provide a crypto portfolio tracking and trading platform. This platform enabled users to track, discover, and trade digital assets across multiple blockchains from a single application.
Despite initial promise and backing from notable investors such as Peak XV, AllianceDAO, Anagram, and prominent angel investors, including Srinivasan and cofounders of Polygon and Solana, 0xPPL faced challenges in achieving the market adoption it had anticipated. Ultimately, the startup announced its decision to wind down operations, with trading on the platform ceasing on June 6 and the app being shut down on June 30.
In a statement regarding the closure, the 0xPPL team expressed their disappointment, stating, “We set out to build a super app for onchain. We tried hard, shipped a lot, learned more. The market we bet on did not arrive on the timeline we needed.” Sankar himself acknowledged the difficulties faced, remarking, “We could not make the crypto social network work.”
Prior to his venture into the crypto space with 0xPPL, Sankar co-founded workforce management software giant Rippling alongside Parker Conrad in 2016. He served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) until stepping down in 2020, bringing nearly two decades of experience in software engineering to his endeavors. His professional background also includes roles at major tech companies such as Microsoft and Zenefits, further solidifying his expertise in the field.
The launch of Vorflux occurs within an increasingly competitive landscape for AI software engineering tools. As startups race to automate larger portions of the software development process beyond just code generation, the demand for innovative solutions is growing. Sankar envisions a future where software development workflows are increasingly AI-native, with developers taking on supervisory roles over teams of AI agents rather than manually writing every line of code.
“The ambition is to push the limits of automation – everyone is a manager now. Only now, the workers are AI agents,” he articulated, reflecting a significant shift in how software development may be approached in the coming years.
This development takes place amidst a notable surge in investor interest in AI software startups. Recent data indicates that Indian AI startups raised an impressive $676 million in the first half of 2026, which is more than four times the $162 million raised during the same period the previous year. This trend underscores the growing recognition of AI’s potential to transform various industries, including software development.
In addition to Vorflux, other startups in the AI space are also making headlines. For instance, the vibe coding startup Emergent recently entered the unicorn club after raising $130 million at a valuation of $1.5 billion. Similarly, Sarvam secured $300 million in its Series B funding round, bringing its valuation to $1.5 billion as well. These developments illustrate the vibrant and rapidly evolving landscape of AI technology and its applications in software engineering.
