NEATEHUB partners with AISF to enhance agritech innovation and entrepreneurship in Assam, focusing on startup support and market access.

NEATEHUB, the agribusiness incubator of Assam Agricultural University, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam Innovation and Startup Foundation (AISF) to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture, agritech, and allied sectors. This collaboration marks a significant step toward enhancing the entrepreneurial landscape in Assam, particularly in the agritech domain, which is crucial for the state's economy.

The MoU was signed at the Assam Startup office in Guwahati on 24 August by Partha Borthakur, CEO (i/c) and COO of NEATEHUB, and Dr. Nayanjyoti Goswami, Managing Director and CEO of AISF. This formal agreement aims to leverage the strengths of both organizations to create a more robust support system for startups in the agricultural sector.

As part of the partnership, NEATEHUB’s Guwahati office will operate from the Assam Startup – The Nest co-working space at Ambari. This strategic location is designed to foster collaboration and interaction among startups, mentors, investors, and industry partners within the state’s growing startup ecosystem. By situating NEATEHUB in a vibrant co-working environment, the initiative seeks to enhance networking opportunities and facilitate knowledge sharing among various stakeholders in the agritech sector.

The partnership will combine NEATEHUB’s agricultural research linkages and incubation experience with AISF’s mentorship, acceleration, investor, and market networks. This synergy is expected to create a comprehensive support framework for agritech startups, covering essential areas such as capacity building, investment readiness, and market access. By aligning their resources and expertise, both organizations aim to address the unique challenges faced by startups in the agricultural domain, which often include limited access to funding, mentorship, and market opportunities.

The collaboration will focus on identifying and nurturing startups in agriculture, agritech, and allied sectors, providing mentorship, incubation, and acceleration support. This targeted approach is crucial for fostering innovation within the agricultural sector, which is vital for food security and economic stability in Assam. The initiative will facilitate the commercialization and adoption of agricultural technologies, connecting startups with investors, industry experts, markets, and funding opportunities. This ecosystem is designed to not only support the growth of individual startups but also to enhance the overall competitiveness of Assam's agricultural industry.

The organizations will also undertake joint startup programs, workshops, outreach, and capacity-building activities, utilizing agricultural research and sectoral expertise to support commercially viable enterprises. Such activities are essential for equipping entrepreneurs with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of the agritech landscape. By focusing on practical training and hands-on experience, the partnership aims to empower aspiring agritech entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions that address pressing agricultural challenges.

This partnership is part of AISF’s broader effort to collaborate with incubators across Assam, with NEATEHUB being one of the first higher-education-based incubators to partner under this initiative. The integration of academic research with practical entrepreneurship is a significant trend in the startup ecosystem, as it fosters innovation and encourages the translation of research into market-ready products and services.

AISF is a Section 8 not-for-profit company established under the Department of Innovation, Incubation, and Startups (DIIS), Government of Assam. Operating under the Assam Startup umbrella, it implements startup programs and facilitates incubation, acceleration, mentorship, investor engagement, and market connections. The foundation plays a pivotal role in promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Assam, aiming to create a sustainable startup ecosystem that can drive economic growth and job creation.

NEATEHUB, an incubation center under Assam Agricultural University, supports agriculture and technology-driven startups through mentorship, funding opportunities, infrastructure, technical expertise, and market linkages. Its focus on agritech aligns with the state's strategic priorities, as agriculture remains a cornerstone of Assam's economy. By nurturing startups that leverage technology to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability, NEATEHUB contributes to the long-term resilience of the agricultural sector.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by officials from both organizations, including Dr. Nayanjyoti Goswami, Partha Borthakur, Kankan Kharghoria, Pranjal Sensua, and Pritish Bora. Their presence underscores the commitment of both NEATEHUB and AISF to fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship.

Through this collaboration, NEATEHUB and AISF aim to strengthen innovation, enterprise development, and employment opportunities across Assam’s agricultural sector. This initiative not only supports the growth of individual startups but also contributes to the broader goal of revitalizing the agricultural landscape in Assam. As the partnership unfolds, it is expected to yield a new generation of agritech entrepreneurs who can drive sustainable agricultural practices and enhance food security in the region.
