Qatar Foundation Launches Applications for Akhlaquna Award 2027

Doha, Qatar Aug 25, 2026 ALN: Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Pre-University Education has opened registration for the 2027 edition of the Akhlaquna Award, with applications being accepted until 17 December 2026.

Marking its 10ᵗʰ year, the award continues to recognise individuals and young people who transform ethical values into initiatives and projects that create a positive impact within their communities. The Akhlaquna Award is a significant initiative that reflects Qatar Foundation's commitment to fostering a culture of ethical behavior and social responsibility among the youth.

The Akhlaquna Award was first launched in 2018, aiming to inspire and empower young people in Qatar and the Gulf region to engage in social initiatives that reflect their values and contribute to the betterment of society. Over the years, the award has evolved, adapting to the changing needs of the community and the aspirations of the youth. Each edition has seen an increase in participation, indicating a growing awareness and enthusiasm for ethical initiatives among young people.

The 2027 edition is open to participants across four categories:

• Baraem (Young Children): ages 7-14
• Youth: ages 15-18
• Young Adults: individuals and groups aged 18-25
• Individual Contributions: participants aged 25-45 from Qatar and Gulf countries

This categorization allows for a diverse range of participants, ensuring that individuals at various stages of their development can contribute their unique perspectives and solutions to pressing social issues. By including younger participants, the award aims to instill a sense of responsibility and encourage ethical thinking from an early age.

According to Qatar Foundation, the award seeks to encourage values-driven initiatives and support individuals who contribute positively to society through meaningful action. The emphasis on ethical values is particularly relevant in today's world, where social challenges such as inequality, environmental degradation, and community fragmentation require urgent attention and innovative solutions.

Ahmed Yousuf Al Malki, Project Manager and member of the Akhlaquna Award team, said the 10ᵗʰ edition represents an important milestone in the initiative’s journey. This anniversary serves not only as a celebration of past achievements but also as a platform to inspire future generations to engage in ethical practices and community service.

He noted that, over the years, the award has highlighted role models who have translated ethical values into practical initiatives that create lasting community impact. These role models serve as beacons of hope and inspiration for others, demonstrating that individual actions can lead to significant societal change.

‘This year, we aim to expand the reach of the Award and bring its message and values to a wider audience, particularly young people, encouraging more of them to translate the values they believe in into actions and initiatives that create a positive and sustainable impact,’ he said.

The award welcomes projects and initiatives that demonstrate ethical values through tangible and sustainable impact across areas including:

• Education
• Community service
• Volunteering
• Social development
• Other fields that contribute to positive social and ethical outcomes

This broad focus allows participants to engage with a variety of issues, encouraging creativity and innovation in their projects. Education, for instance, is a vital area where young people can enact change, whether through tutoring programs, educational workshops, or awareness campaigns. Community service and volunteering initiatives can foster a sense of belonging and solidarity, while social development projects can address systemic issues that hinder progress.

Al Malki said particular emphasis is placed on innovative initiatives that address real-world challenges, demonstrate clear impact and have the potential for sustainability and growth. This focus on sustainability is crucial, as it ensures that projects are not only impactful in the short term but also have the capacity to create lasting change over time.

He added that evaluation extends beyond the project itself to consider the participant’s personal contribution, positive influence and ability to inspire others. This holistic approach to evaluation underscores the importance of leadership and mentorship in driving community initiatives, highlighting that the impact of an individual can extend far beyond their immediate project.

According to Qatar Foundation, the Akhlaquna Award continues to provide young people with opportunities to showcase their ideas and initiatives while reinforcing the principle that age should not be a barrier to creating positive change. This message is particularly important in a rapidly changing world where young voices are increasingly being recognized as vital contributors to societal progress.
