The justice ministry and PACI in Kuwait are encouraging citizens and residents to activate the electronic signature service to streamline access to government and banking services.

The justice ministry and the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) on Monday urged citizens and residents to activate the approved electronic signature service to benefit from government and banking services, as part of efforts to simplify public services through cooperation among state agencies. In a joint statement, the two authorities said the electronic signature enables users to authenticate transactions and documents electronically without the need for handwritten signatures or personal attendance, while maintaining full legal validity under applicable legislation.

The statement said the service will support a range of electronic services offered by the ministry of justice, to be introduced gradually, including electronic notarization, as well as the issuance and cancellation of powers of attorney online. Other applications include establishing companies and businesses, completing commercial licensing procedures at the ministry of commerce and industry, and signing certain banking transactions and contracts remotely from any location.

Citizens can activate the electronic signature through the Kuwait Mobile ID application or self-service kiosks, while residents can activate it through self-service machines located at various sites across the country. The two entities encouraged all citizens and residents to activate the service in advance so it is ready for use with current and future government and banking services easily and securely. β€” KUNA
