Vishal Mishra to Host Concerts in Assam and Nepal for Flood Relief

Vishal, who has crooned numbers such as “Kaise Hua,” “Pehle Bhi Main,” and “Sau Gram Zindagi”, took to Instagram, where he made the announcement. His heartfelt message resonated with many, as he expressed his sorrow over the ongoing crises. He wrote, “My heart is heavy seeing what's happening. So I have made a decision. I WILL PERFORM A CONCERT IN #NEPAL AND A CONCERT IN #ASSAM. EVERY SINGLE PENNY WILL GO TOWARDS FLOOD RELIEF AND THE PEOPLE AFFECTED. I GIVE YOU MY WORD. Announcement soon (sic).” This commitment highlights the role of artists in raising awareness and mobilizing resources during times of humanitarian crises.

He captioned the post: "Stay strong, will do whatever I can individually, Har Har Mahadev (sic)." This sentiment reflects a broader call for unity and resilience in the face of adversity, as communities in both Assam and Nepal struggle to recover from the floods.

Assam was hit with devastating floods beginning on 19 July 2026. The first spell of intense rainfall occurred around 28 June, leading to widespread disruption. The second wave of severe flooding was exacerbated by monsoonal downpours and upstream cloudbursts on 19 July, which inundated numerous villages and displaced thousands of residents. The crisis reached its peak later in July, with reports indicating that entire communities were submerged, leading to loss of homes, livestock, and livelihoods.

In addition to the immediate destruction, the floods have also raised concerns about long-term impacts on the region's economy and infrastructure. Many farmers have lost their crops, which could lead to food shortages and increased prices in the coming months. The government and various NGOs are working tirelessly to provide relief, but the scale of the disaster has overwhelmed local resources.

It was on August 26 that Nepal suffered catastrophic flash floods, which were triggered by heavy rainfall that caused rivers to overflow.
